The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is releasing a Request for Applications (RFA) to develop, implement, and maintain an in-house Mentored Internship Program (MIP) that will create a sustainable SUD workforce.

Register here to attend an informational webinar on February 9, 2023, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. PST to learn more about the RFA and ask questions.

The MIP project was established in 2022 in response to a variety of California-specific behavioral health workforce needs assessments and recommendations that showed a shortage of professionals across the spectrum of behavioral health careers. This program is part of DHCS’ broader efforts to expand California’s behavioral health workforce through the Behavioral Health Workforce Development (BHWD) initiative, which seeks to improve access to, and productive participation in, behavioral health services across the state.

Priority for funding will be given to organizations that propose to specifically train more professionals who work with individuals who have or are at risk of developing opioid use disorder (OUD). Applications are due Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. PST.

Application Information:

All questions should be sent to CA_BHWD@ahpnet.com.

The MIP project is administered by Advocates for Human Potential, Inc. (AHP). This project is funded by Opioid Settlement Funds (OSF). More information can be found here.
